FREDERICK SMITH COURT TENANTS ASSOCIATION
AWARDED £250.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND
This grant resulted from a survey in which residents of Frederick Smith Court were asked how they wished to maximise use of an under untilised conservatory area of this sheltered accommodation. The most popular choice was to purchase a pool table. Once in place, the residents inted to set up tournaments with other sheltered housing projects.

STONY STRATFORD CHILDREN'S CENTRE
AWARDED £290.00 FROM THE BRIGHTON ACORN FUND
A junior Volunteers garden party will be held on 21 July 2010.

WEST BLETCHLEY COMMUNITY PROJECTS (LIVING STONES)
AWARDED £1,260.00 FROM THE BAKER TILLY FUND
For the past 2 years, the group has been operating the 'Living Stones' initiative, which meets weekly and seeks to assist those with dyslexia, numeracy and literacy problems. The group is not just to help with forms and correspondence, but to encourage and empower the visitors to have the confidence to tackle such issues themselves. This grant will cover some rent costs and some much needed IT equipment.

FRANK HOWE COURT SOCIAL CLUB
AWARDED £150.00 FROM THE NHS GRANTS FUND
This grant will pay for 10 armchair aerobics sessions for older people living in sheltered accommodation. This is essential excerise for many of the residents and a real boost to their quality of life.

LAKES ESTATE SUMMER SCHEME GROUP
AWARDED £1,265.00 FROM THE EDWARD HURLEY MEMORIAL FUND
The group have been awarded funding to support their annual summer playscheme. A range of activities, creative sessions, musical workshops are just some of the varied opportunities for young people on the estate to enjoy during the long summer holidays.

MK SNAP
AWARDED £1,112.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND
The group supports adults with learning disabilities. They have recently started a succesful horticultural project. This funding will be utilised to purchase a polytunnel which will enable the members to grow their own plants from seeds rather than having to purchase developed plants. They will also be able to build more raised beds.

THE CROSS LINKS CENTRE
AWARDED £500.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND
The group runs a senior citizen's lunch club every Monday, where a hot meal is provided for £2.50 (2 courses) to local residents. The cooker used to prepare this food is several years old. The elements have been replaced a number of times and the equipment is becoming unreliable. Over the same period, most of the tumblers and a number of plates and bowls have been chipped or broken. This grant will purchase a new cooker and replacement tumblers and crockery. 

BRADVILLE HEALTH AND ACTIVE GROUP
AWARDED £386.00 FROM THE NHS GRANTS FUND
This group has been running regular sessions, supported by a Lifestyle Guide, focused on healthy eating, recipe sharing and cookery, which they would like to augment by providing a small ingredient parcel (mainly vegetables) with which the group can experiment at home. This award will fund that work as well as providing general refreshments and materials (e.g. 'behavior change diaries') for the weekly sessions.

GREENLEYS & WOLVERTON ADULT HEALTH & FITNESS
AWARDED £1,330.00 FROM THE NHS GRANTS FUND
The group is requesting funding to run excerise/Zumba classes for the next year, following on from a short pilot funded by the NHS lifestyle guides. These sessions will run weekly during term time. There will be a participant fee of £1.50 per session which will pay for the hire of the room and some refreshements. During school holidays, the classes will continue to run in the evening but at the full cost of £4.50 per person. The 4 sessions so far have been attracting at least 10-15 people each week.

MILTON KEYNES ISLAMIC SOCIETY
AWARDED £500.00 FROM THE MK PARTNERSHIP FUND
The group is requesting funding to put on a family sports and fun day on the 11th July. This grant award will fund the day, which will include a football competition, bouncy castle, children's entertainer, games, stalls and a barbecue. They ran this event last year and had around 300 attendees. They hope to increase this to at least 500 this year.

MILTON KEYNES COMMUNITY MEDIATION
AWARDED £654.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY FUND
This grant will enable MK Community Mediation Service to train a new group of volunteers mediators for the first time in two years. The organisation was awarded a grant in March to pay for the accredited training course to pay for their supervision/mentoring expenses. This additional grant will cover some ancillary costs associated with the training. In order to register with the National Open College Network for accreditation on this course, NOCN registration fees are required for 11 new volunteers. The grant will also pay for the enhanced CRB checks they need to carry out for the 11 new trainees and for the use of their own staff to deliver 'office training' on health and safety and procedures.

AWAKE TO KNOW AFRICA
AWARDED £670.00 FROM THE HEART 103.3 FUND
The group, which provides popular and valuable cultural educational programmes is requesting funds to purchase a Gazebo for outside events and to create a useable space in poor weather. This grant will also enable the group to purchase 2 banners to affix to the Gazebo and to pay for one part-time admin staff to assist.

MK ARTS FOR HEALTH
AWARDED £1,195.00 FROM THE HEART 103.3 FUND
This award will fund a two day performance, affiliated with the International Festival, on the MK Hospital site featuring international performers 'Orkestra del Sol' and 'Flam'. These performances will be held in public spaces, on the wards/waiting areas as well as the hospital courtyards. This grant will offer a means of bringing the International Festival out in the community. It will be received by staff, patients and visitors and represents an exciting opportunty to showcase international artists.

DIVERSE MK
AWARDED £1,000.00 FROM THE ARTS FUND
This funding will support a pilot event to coinicide with the IF Milton Keynes Festival. If successful it could be the beginnings of a new alternative arts events based in the Theatre District of Milton Keynes. The event organisers have secured use of the recently refurbished restaurant at no cost. After the 10 day pilot event, the organisation will regroup and determine future events, seek other funding and/or sponsorship accordingly. Two exhibiting local artists have already been confirmed. The emphasis will be on providing a venue for local artists who may not have the opportunity to exhibit their work in the IF International Festival, but who wish to be involved in 'fringe' events.

SUTTONS SHETLTERED HOUSING GUILD
AWARDED £390.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND
To fund a coach trip for the the residents to take a day trip to the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley. Trips like these enhance the well-being of the residents, giving them focus and recreational pursuits to solidify freindships and minimise isolation.

ARTS GATEWAY MK
AWARDED £500.00 FROM THE SURVIVE & THRIVE FUND
An ongoin initiative is a quartely networking event - The Mingle - their first 2 were very succesful, enabling artists to keep up to date with important local initiatives and also facilitating cross arts collaboration between individual practitioners and groups. The first event had 40 attendees and the second had 101.

A WORD IN EDGEWAYS
AWARDED £670.00 FROM THE BAKER TILLY FUND
As part of National Family Week, Word in Edgeways is joining up with Dadtalk (a free national social networking site for dads, that offers news, articles and a forum where dads can talk to other dads about their role), to highlight the positive effects that fathers have on their children's lives through reading. There will be a literature event at 5 libraries across Milton Keynes.

MK PLAY ASSOCIATION
AWARDED £780.00 FROM THE HEART 103.3 FUND

The playboat project is a Big Lottery funded 5year project. The custom built narrowboat cruises along the canal stopping at green spaces and woodland, offering play activities to local children aged between 8-13 years. 

GIFFARD PARK PRE-SCHOOL
AWARDED £961.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY FUND
To purchase a shed as a safe store for outdoor toys and play equipment. 

MK WOMEN & WORK GROUP
AWARDED £1,140.00 FROM THE PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS THEMED FUND

To fund a pilot Mentoring Project. Working with an approved bank of mentors, to offer clients who are looking to set up their own business, change career direction or return to paid work. 

MILTON KEYNES IRISH CENTRE WELFARE GROUP
AWARDED £1,200.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND

The group currently provides lunch for approximately 60 people a week, and they have recently received funding from the Irish Government to pay for a chef so they could cater for up to 80 people a week on a Wednesday, and hopefully one more day per week. 

MK CENTRE FOR INTERGRATED LIVING
AWARDED £1,305.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND

This grant would enable the CIL to purchase a wheelchair weighing machine for wheelchair users at the drop in centre.

TURNING POINT OPTIONS
AWARDED £1,500.00 FROM THE MK DRUG & ALCOHOL SUPPORT SERVICE

Complimentary therapy services are currently only available to clients at Turning Point with substance abuse issues. Turning Point would now like to extend therapies to the Alcohol misuse clients from their outreach unit where they will offer  Reflexology by a trained therapist on alternative weeks. Turning Point would like to run this project for a 10 month period until the end of the financial year.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR GIFTED CHILDREN
AWARDED £250.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY FUND
This funding is for a wide selection of board games that have been selected by their educational consultant as ones that will stretch and challenge children with high learning potential. Access to a 'library' of board games, without the problem of where to store them, would be a huge benefit to the Milton Keynes branch.

INTO THE COMMUNITY
AWARDED £293.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY FUND
FRANTIC Youth Club is run one day a week. It caters for young people between the ages of 5 - 11years. There are approximately 300 children registerd on the FRANTIC database, this averages out to 80-100 attending each session when running. They would like to equip their outdoor area with new play equipment including a bouncy castle. Allowing them to maximise this outside space during the summer months and provide a number of more active and healthy activities.

CHADWICK DRIVE - HANOVER RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
AWARDED £300.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND

A group of 8 elderly residents at Chadwick Drive Supported Sheltered Housing Scheme have recently participated in a 10 week Tai Chi course. It has helped to improve the individuals mobility and balance and kept them physically active. This grant will fund a further 10 week course to be run at the housing scheme.

HEALTH TRAINER SERVICE
AWARDED £509.00 FROM THE NHS GRANTS FUND

The Foundation funded this healthy lifestyle project, through the PCT fund. This award will help assist with the costs of extending the project for a further 10 weeks. Running in the Fullers Slade area under the title 'GET ACTIVE', a weekly session of excercise classes to promote behavioural changes that improve well being, is provided.

GREAT LINFORD PARISH COUNCIL
AWARDED £540.00 FROM THE EDWARD HURLEY MEMORIAL FUND

This grant is requested to enable the parish youth workers to develop and deliver a summer programme for local teenagers. In 2009, 1000 children benefitted from the Parish Council's summer events programme. In winter 2009, the Parish council started a youth club in Downs Barn for teenagers, the group now attracts around 30 teens each week.

BRITISH SPORTS TRUST
AWARDED £1,000.00 FROM THE EDWARD HURLEY MEMORIAL FUND
This funding will deliver a number of Sports Community Leadership awards and shorter qualifications to around 30 young people. They are also working with Make a Difference who will help provide volunteering opportunities to enable young people to complete the qualifications as well as ongoing opportunities to be involved.

DANCING BRICK THEATRE COMPANY
AWARDED £1,000.00 FROM THE BAKER TILLY FUND
Dancing Brick wish to run six, two hour Mask Making after-school workshops for groups of children and their parents/carers and Langland Primary School on Netherfield and Orchard School on Springfield. ______________________________________________

LOUGHTON MEMORIAL HALL
AWARDED £395.00 FROM THE SURVIVE & THRIVE FUND

The hall has undergone some extensive refurbishment in the last couple of years. They are now having issues with the guttering at the front of the building, which is leaking and no longer fit for purpose. This funding will pay for a complete replacement of the guttering at the front of the building.  

CITIZENS MK
AWARDED £1,500.00 FROM THE MK CULTURAL CITIZENSHIP FUND

The group would like to organise 3 Community Organising and Leadership training course between now and June. One will consist of 2 evening sessions, another a full day session and the third will also be a full day session but will be specifically aimed at school pupils.

BLETCHLEY YOUTH CENTRE
AWARDED £1,480.00 FROM THE EDWARD HURLEY MEMORIAL FUND

This funding is for a new music project which the group is planning to grow over the next year with further funding applications. There are still issues around gangs in Bletchley and this group of young people believe that, with help, they can break down these barriers and create a greater sense of community cohesion.

SPORT MILTON KEYNES
AWARDED £1,067.00 FROM THE SURVIVE & THRIVE FUND

Every year, the group stages the Sport Milton Keynes Sports Achiever of the Year Presentation Evening. In excess of 300 guests attend and 16 categories of sporting awards are presented.

ENTERPRISE (21) INTERNATIONAL
AWARDED £1,030.00 FROM THE PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS THEMED FUND
This group are in the process of converting to a CIC. Working closeley with Business Link they want to focus on the needs of BME new migrants from the African Caribbean community. The benefits of this programme will be to enhance the African Caribbean socio-economic contribution to Milton Keynes.

A WORD IN EDGEWAYS
AWARDED £1,000.00 FROM THE BRIGHTON ACORN FUND

A Word in Edgeways is working with community music project specialist Steve McDaniel to create an innovative new community arts project which seeks to inspire local people to gain a new appreciation of their environments. The project 'Lend me your Ears' will work with residents of Wolverton and Greenleys to identify characteristic sounds from their community. 

AWAKE TO KNOW AFRICA
AWARDED £618.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY FUND
The group is asking for funding to support their ongoing work. Car Insurance for the car that they use for all their activities. The vehicle is registered to the chair of the organisation. Printer for creating leaflets and other materials. Stationary for ongoing use. They have several projects in the pipeline including working with several schools and the Community Mobilisers.

BalancED MK
AWARDED £1,000.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY FUND

BalancED MK have recently piloted a self support group called ReBalance. It's a user led community group for anyone affected by eating disorders, including carers. It runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 10am to 12 noon at York House.

MK MOLES BOWLS CLUB
AWARDED £590.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND

The club is requesting funding to purchase specialist steps, with handrails, that will allow bowlers who are less physically able to access the raised bowls green. This is particulary relevant for bowlers with visual impairments.

MILTON KEYNES TORCH TRUST
AWARDED £767.00 FROM THE MARGARET POWELL FUND

The groups is requesting funding to hire a minibus for a week's holiday in Hereford for 12 people with visual impairments and 5 carers.

As part of the ongoing horticultural project, originally funded through community grants, the group would like to set up a small social enterprise project making and selling hanging baskets. This pilot funding would purchase enough materials to make 50 baskets, some with fully grown plants, other with plants grown from smaller seedlings so that the service users can go through the growing experience
