Qualified therapists give their time freely to the service users of Bosom Pals. These therapists are ordinarily based at Milton Keynes Hospital and Willen Hospice. This means that they have insight into the issues that impact on women with Breast Cancer. Complimentary therapies such as Raki, Head Massage and others are offered and deemed to be very beneficial. In order to afford the clients some privacy whilst undergoing their therapy, two screens are required.

NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN CRICKET CLUB

Because purchasing sport-related kit can be expensive, parents are sometimes reluctanct to invest in kit for a child that is just starting to explore their interest in a sport, particulary when the family cannot afford them. The NP Town Cricket Club Youth Team would like to provide for a few new members who are in this cirumstance by offering helmets and pads. The Grant would also pay for new cricket balls for the new season, as the clubs current supply of these items are worn out and in need of replacing.
LINCOLN COURT SOCIAL CLUB

The group is requesting funding to purchase a 10 foot by 8 foot greenhouse for their enclosed garden area. They plan to use the greenhouse to grow flowers and vegetables. As well as providing a space for healthy activity, they anticipate that the greenhouse will be a great social area for the residents.
SHERWOOD CHORAL SOCIETY

This established choir are struggling to cope with the rising costs of hall hire for rehearsals over recent years. About 50% of members are retired and many have low incomes. Subscriptions have been raised accordingly, but due to the relatively small size of the choir (17), and in order to keep new membership an attractive option, the choir would like support in meeting their core costs for hall hire over a twenty week period. More recently the choir haveattracted two new members, however this does not make a significant financial impact to the groups financial affairs. The main expenditure is for hall hire, and costs for a Musical Director. Ticket sales from concerts are modest to suit the pockets of the mainly elderly/retired audience that attend.
FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD CLUB

By meeting weekly and centring its activites around Short-mat Bowls, darts, cards and board games, attendees are encouraged to join in moderate excerices together with activites which stimulate and engage their minds. NORTH BUCKS BEEKEEPERS' ASSOCIATION

The North Bucks Bee Keepers Association has arranged with the City Discovery Centre to put on three public displays on beekeeping this year. It is hoped these public events will help to educate the community and foster a greater appreciation for the importance of bees to our local environment and beyond, as well as to encourage new beginners to join the association. This grant will purchase bee keepers suits and a new hive to use in the demonstrations.

MILTON KEYNES ROWING CLUB

The rowing club has been activel recruiting new members with a partivular focus on theirs womens team, which has been growing and improving recently, with great showings at various regional competitions. In order to accomplish this, the club has been offering a 'Learn to Row' course for beginners, which incloves a significant amount of land-based training and excersise before new members are put in a boat on the water. Integral to this work are the 'Ergo' rowing machines, of which the club currently owns 4 which is proving somewhat problematic as the number of people the club aims to recruit will spend a lot of time queueing to use the machines. To make this worse, one of their exiating machines has a broken screen which needs to be replaced. This Grant would purchase a fifth machine and repair the broken one, giving the 5 in total.
MILTON KEYNES TAMIL FORUM

In September they wish to hold a celebratory event which focuses on the art and culture of the region, using dance and music as the highlight. TOUCHE FENCING CLUB

This initiative will raise the profile of fencing. The club activities will likely be in the heart of Bletchley at Knowles Junior School (venue still to be confirmed). This will be accessible to young people for the first time in Milton Keynes. It is an Olympic Sport, very much on the fringes of most young people experiences. The coaching by qualified coaches will take place a local school and it is hoped a new junior club in Bletchley will be founded and become self sustaining. An adult fencing club alreadt exists and is established at Stantonbury Leisure Centre, so this new initiative will fill a void, developing physical and mental agility of the young people who participate in safe environment and in a fun way.

This grant would fund the hire of professional children's play workers from the MK Play Association for helps facilitate elements (includingg supervision of the giant inflatable play equipment) of the MK4U festival this July. The staff at MK Play Association are specially trained to engage with young people and would be difficult to afford without grant subsidy. Creative activities including the use of materials and resources from the Play Association fit within the ethos of the event by engaging with young people's creative interests, for example one idea for this year will involve the creation of a giant scrap model which could be exhibited locally during and after the event.

In addition to being a great father-son activity for a number of local families of Asian origin, MK Dhol has proven to have a growing appeal in the community, having been invited to perform at local music festivals and other community events. In order to increase member's skill levels and better prepare them to engage in competitions, as well as more aggressively seeking opportunities tp secure bookings that would enable the group to become self-sustaining, they would like to offer additional training sessions for their members. Ultimately, the hope is that this will lead to a higher local profile, the recruitment of mroe members and the increased skill levels and confidence of the young people participate.
WOLVERTON COMMUNITY ORCHARD GROUP

The grant will provide a small pond with a safety cover and seating area (constructed from salvaged granite) for the ecology education area in the Wolverton Orchard. This community group has desired to include the pond for some time, as it adds significantly to the variety of educational opportunities that can be offered to schoo groups who use the venue. It will also enhance the appeal and attractiveness of this valuable community resource, located in an area that features significant financial deprivation.

1ST GIFFARD PARK SCOUT GROUP

The Scout Group have a number of young people with physical and learning difficulties who regulary attend. This group will support children with visual impairment as well as those in social care. There are also children from low incom families who enjoy membership of the group. Camping is the main staple of scouting activity, but the cost of equipment can be prohibitive to familes on low income. This grant would enable the scout group to purchase the equipment, which would both broaden the activities available, as well as the accessibility of the activites to disadvantaged children.
MILTON KEYNES NHS RETIREMENT FELLOWSHIP

The trip funded by the Foundation las year was very successful. It enabled the more elderly and infirm members to get out of Milton Keynes and enjoy social interaction with other members. It is on the strength of this that participant have vocalised a strong desire to go on further trips. Clearly these opportunities promote their general well being and are popular activities. Two trips are planned for June 2010. The grant will enable 36 members to go on the trip and will cover the costs of a coach and guide for one of the trips.
MILTON KEYNES BRIDGE CLUB

Because the club's membership is largely older and single, the majority are living on very restricted budgets, making it all the more important for the club to keep it's costs to an absolute minimum so as not to preclude people paying at the club as a result of being unable to afford the session fees. With 68 regular members and another 50 occassional visitors, there is a significant demand for the activity on offer and the club is requesting funds to replace 24 of the 26 tables that are regulary used.

MK DONS SUPPORTERS ASSOCIATION

The Supporters Association is planning to run a project with a school located in one of Milton Keynes' more deprived areas, in the first instance, Langlands School on Netherfield. They will work with groups of pupils over the period of a year to make a regular series of short films about aspects of the MK Dons and Stadium MK. This might include spending time 'behind the scens' at Stadium MK withe the groundkeepers, learning about players' fitness trainging or how the ticket office works. The group will work with the children to find out what they are interested in. This will offer students the opportunity to gain experience with making non-fiction, short-subject documentary films as well as learning about the process of film editing.
AFRICAN CARIBBEAN LUNCHEON CLUB

The African Caribbean Luncheon CLub is a very popular and diverse luncheon club, offering meals and social interaction to older people in large number twice a month at the 'Bath House' in Wolveton. This year, they will be celebrating their 15th Anniversary and would like to plan a grand celebration with food, music and good company for all. This grant would fund this event, as well as the hire of a minibus to transport the elderly members to and from the venue. In addition, this proposal will fund fund the group's transport for their annual summer trip, which this year will be to Brighton. Food and other costs and expenses for that day will be the responsibility of the attendees.

TICKFORD BRIDGE BI-CENTENARY COMMITTEE

The Committee is organising a three week exhibition to be hosted by the Newport Pagnell Library, as well as an opening ceremony for the anniversary events. This exhibition will feature a book that the Committee has commissioned on the historic Tickford Bridge (the country's oldest cast iron bridge that sill carries main road traffic) as well as other information and items connected to the bridge and its history. It is expected several thousands local residents will visit the exhibition and / or atend the opening ceremony, whcih would both be funded by this grant.
THE EDGE YOUTH

The group would like to offer a residential weekend activity to 50 local young people to be held at the Peak Centre (Edale, Derbyshire) in May over two nights. The activities planned for the weekend include drama workshops, a visit to a climbing wall, various sport and game activites and arts and crafts. For many of the participants, this will be the first weekend away from home and the weekend has been designed to try to offer as many new and varied positive / creative experiences as possible within a modest budget. Social bonds between members are expected to strengthen and deepen as a result of this project, and the peer support that these sometimes vulnerable young people will be able to offer one another should increase as well.
THE NEWPORT MUSTER

The group launched their first annual walking event in Newport Pagnell last year (200 attended) and wish to expand the profile of the event considerably. The walk visits local points of historical and cultural interst, especially in and Bury Field and the Bury Field Common. They are networking with more schools and with other walking groups to promote this year's event. In order to attract more participants, the group think the entrance fee needs to more competitive. The group feel that they underspent in advertising and associated publicity costs for the last event and are seeking to remedy this with a budget to suit. St Johns Ambulance presence is a neccessity. In order for walkers to appreciate the countryside and the historical significance of Newport Pagnell an accompanying programme is essential.
SOCIAL EYES

Up until now Social Eyes has been run and managed by the parents and carers of service users as volunteer workers. As the organisation has grown, the amount of administrative and outreach work has increased to the point that the parents (who are already very busy caring for thier special needs children) would like the organisation to hire a self-employed administrator to help ease the work load. The group is already considering the best way to fundraise to make this post sustainable for the group in the long term.
THE QUARRIES SCOUT CAMPSITE

In recent surveys of local scouts regarding the kinds of activities and services they would like to see developed for the site, the most popular response was for the long-held ambition of installing a climbing tower. The organisation has spoken with a structural enginner and has obtained a disused old electrical pylon. The project has been paired with a fundraising effort that has so far £1,900.00, but another £3,676.00 is needed for the work to go forward. It is hoped that this will serve as an added attraction for the site and will aid in the recruitment of more new Scouts. The grant proposal has been topped up with some funds allocated towards another very popular activity on the site, archery and shooting.
COFFEE HALL RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

The local play are on Coffee Hall is surrounded by a wall which was previously the focus of a community arts project. The intention was to get local residents and their children to contribute to the design of the painted decorations on the wall and to participate in the actual decoration as well in the hopes of inspiring a sense of ownership and pride in this popular community space.

The group runs a miniature railway that is open to the public at weekends. They are in the process of building a new track for their public facility at Caldecotte but have found that certain items - particularly the points - have cost significantly more than anticipated. This has led to a shortfall in funding that could jeopardise the whole project if funds are not found to purchase the remainder of the rail needed. This grant will cover the cost of the extra materials needed to finish the project.
This well established bowls club is an important part of the village's social and recreational landscape.To meet the aspirations of the club members, the group has recently joined a local day league affiliated to the English short mat bowls association. Whereas league membership has been beneficial in expanding the club's recreational and social network, their 2 mats are not up to league standard. This grant will pay for 2 new bowls mats.
5TH NEWPORT PAGNELL BROWNIES

Many of the girls come from financially disadvantaged families and increasing their fees would put a difficult burden on many of the participants. This grant will support the group to run a 'Festival of Womenhood', a project that is being driven by students at the school. The remit behind 'A Festival of Womanhood' is to engage women in Milton Keynes to take up ESOL classes which will assist them with developing their children's education. THE MIDDLE EASTERN CULTURAL GROUP

MK Basketball across Milton Keynes. At present there is no Milton Keynes Basketball League. There is a Bucks Basketball League, but this is seen as cost prohibitive at the moment as the annual cost is £500 for a team. Games in the Bucks League take place in Aylesbury. MK Basketball club organisers, would rather set up a Milton Keynes Basketball league. It is hoped this will be achieved in the latter part of 2010.

ASSOCIATION OF GHANAIANS IN MILTON KEYNES

This grant is to support the group's End of Year Party that will bring the community together and promote Ghanaian culture. The Association expects apporosimately 300 people to attend this event, which will be held at Conniburrow Pavillion Meeting Place on December 12th. An MC and DJ have been approached and fliers have already been printed, promoting music and a children's dance competition. No admission fee will be charged to those who are attending and the Association says it will subsidise the costs not covered by the grant award. The Foundation did fund their Christmas party last yeat, and there was a small amount allowed for decorations for that event, as well. however they were streamers and balloons, etc and were disposed of after the end of year party.

This means that the club often loses members as they are not able to practice on a good surface.
