The Milton Keynes Community Foundation has administered a fantastic £62,500 to 65 small local groups. The Grants of up to £1,000 were awarded from the national Sport Relief fund allocated to support vital community work in deprived communities of our city.

Here are the groups that this money was awarded to:

  • Milton Keynes Islamic Art Heritage and Culture Organisation - to pay for 2 coaches for a trip to the Science Museum's current exhibition in London
  • The Milton Keynes Tamil Forum - to put on 3 seminars focusing on education and career guidance for young people from the Tamil Community
  • Bletchley Town Cricket Club Junior - to purchase a portable / mobile net for the club
  • Carlton Youth & Swim Club - to fund an instructor qualification training course for three volunteer instructors
  • One Ummah Centre - to offer St John's Ambulance-run health & safety training for volunteers
  • Social Eyes - to run a programme of events over 2010 for visually impaired youth in MK
  • Friends of Tower Drive Day Centre - to support the Free Wheeler cycling programme for adults with learning disabilities
  • Riverside Parks Group - to help fund this years summer family fair in Mill Field
  • Dancing Brick Theatre Company - to run 3 mask-making workshops with children at Langland Primary School
  • MK Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Group - to purchase specialist excercise equipment, and to upgrade their dial-up internet connection to broadband
  • Awake to Know Africa - to pilot adult version of their African drumming and story telling workshops, aimed at isolated and marginalised communities
  • Open Door - to support drop in sessions over the next 12 months for vulnerable members of the community
  • Unity Youth Centre - to continue a popular local youth football initiative
  • Scot Bowls Club - to improve the club's porta-cabin
  • 2366 (Bletchley Park) Squadron ATC - to purchase athletic kit and equipment for their young members from the Bletchley area
  • Saplingettes Saplings Children's Centre Parents Forum - to run a 10 week programme of activites for parents and children
  • Milton Keynes Sea Cadets - to purchase 2 tandem sit-on-top kayaks with paddles and associated safety equipment
  • Hindu Youth Group (MK) - to run healthy, sporting activites and to offer first aid training
  • The Warren Children's Centre - to purchase play equipment
  • Parkside Community Sports & Football Club - to pay for tournament venue hire
  • Stony Stratford Cricket Club - to offer cricket to students at Queens Eleanor School
  • Meads Close Residents Assoication - to create a new community garden surrounding housing for older people in New Bradwell
  • New Bradwell Festival Group - to provide equipment and insurance for this year's popular NewBradFest music festival in New Bradwell
  • Milton Keynes Islamic Society - to run sporting (principally netball and football) activites for local children
  • Youth Centred UK community Interest Company - to help fund the streaming of this new local youth-run internet radio station through Facebook
  • The Middle Eastern Cultural Group - to fund games and equipment for children who attend the group's regular meetings and events
  • North Saxon Street Carnival Committee - to run a carnival day in Stantonbury and Bradville
  • The Wednesday Group - to offer a day trip including a visit to the theatre for a group of older people living with various physical impairments
  • Giffard Park Pre-School - to purchase IT and educational equipment
  • Great Linford Parent & Toddler Group - to refresh toys and equipment for this popular parent and toddler group
  • 1st Bletchley Girls Brigade - to help the group to purchase the new style uniforms and to subsidise this year's summer camp
  • The Cross Links Centre - to support the newly re-launched 'Teddy-Tots' parent/toddler Group
  • The Church of God Propehcy Youth Group - to run a 5-day residential activity programme this summer for teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Fishermead Academy - to run a Fun Day of activities and competitions for students in May 2010
  • Friends of Falconhurst - to run an after school athletics club
  • Milton Keynes City Korfball Club - to start a new Korfball club for local students
  • MK Dynamos FC - to fund certification training for five volunteer football coaches
  • Bradville Play & Community Project - to pay for child protection and craft activity training, resources and equipment
  • Diabetes UK MK Voluntary Group - to support ongoing costs and to fund promotional materials for the group
  • Wolverton Arts and Music Group - to support the annual Wolverton and Greenleys community music and arts festival
  • Brookfield Rangers FC - to purchase replacement sports equipment
  • Afghan Volleyball Athletic - to run a community event to celebrate the 'Afghan New Year' in Milton Keynes
  • 1st Wolverton Scout Group - to purchase replacements tents
  • C-IT-THRU - to undertake a course in Online Counselling; to contribute towards the cost of building a website for the benefit of visually impaired youth
  • Springfield Initiative Youth Group - to purchase 5 netbooks for internet-related activities
  • Milton Keynes City Snooker League (MKSCL) - to relaunch the MK Snooker Academy sessions at Herald Club for children from low income household
  • Milton Keynes Somalian Women Association - to purchase 2 laptops for home visit by support workers
  • Milton Keynes Somalian Projects - to cover rent costs for the support groups for parents and carers
  • Maka-Pinoy Club - to run a Family Fun and Sports day this summer
  • Fullers Slade Parents Association - to run 2 family outings for the group
  • Sherwood Choral Society - to fund a series of 'Explore Your Voice' sessions, offered free of charge for the communities of the Lakes Estate, Bletchley and Fenny Stratford
  • Bletchley Youth Centre - to help develop costumes and a float for this year's Bletchley carnival
  • Milton Keynes Somail Community Council - to run a support project for Women of Somalian origin
  • Milton Keynes Telugu Sangham - to purchase a PA system and sport / games equipment for their family sports days
  • Wolverton Town Cricket Club - to run coaching in schools in deprived areas of Milton Keynes
  • Freinds of Knowles - to fund a community art project to decorate the local skate part with urban, graffiti-style artwork
  • Into the Community - to refurbish the Food Bank's new warehouse property
  • Milton Keynes Branch Inland Waterway Association - to refurbish the canalside mural at Wolverton Secret Garden
  • Milton Keynes Victors Amateur Boxing Club - to purchase gloves and guards to replace worn equipment
  • Orbit Trampoline Club - to run sessions for pre school children
  • Shika Tamaa Support Services - to provide hot meals at the monthly drop in
  • Lakes Estate Residents Association - to fund a summer community planting and public area improvement project in the common areas of the Lakes Estate
  • Folk on the Green - to purchase steps with a handrail and a wheelchair ramp to enable access to the event's staging
  • Horn of Africa Welfare Association - to run a festival/cultural celebration for the Somalian community
  • Independent Cinema Milton Keynes - to offer 6 additional screenings in new areas across MK
