Inspiring Elsie Donates her win to Surviving Winter
We have a special thank you to say to local lady Elsie Gibling who has been given a £50 Golden Wonder Award by the Milton Keynes Council for being an ‘Inspirational Individual’.
The amazing 86 year old volunteers 14 hours each week at the Age UK Milton Keynes Peartree Centre where she greets visitors on reception and has helped with their lunch clubs for the last 20 years!

Elsie has donated her £50 Award to the MK Community Foundation’s Surviving Winter Appeal which will support older and vulnerable people in Milton Keynes this winter.
Over 6million UK households are living in fuel poverty* and that includes over 6,000 households here in Milton Keynes. Last winter in the UK there were an estimated 25,400 excess winter deaths amongst those aged 65 or older in the UK.

MK Community Foundation have partnered with Age UK Milton Keynes, YMCA Milton Keynes, SSAFA Forces Help and the Foodbank to ensure funds raised will directly help those most at risk.  Funds raised will buy blankets and duvets, door and window repairs, emergency food and clothing, hot water bottles, path clearance and portable heaters.
