The Winner of this Year’s Community Car Raffle...

The Community Foundation’s 2009 Community Car Raffle has been won by Clare Kipping of Bedford.
Clare’s winning ticket was sold by the Cowper & Newton Museum, one of the 93 community groups and charities who sold tickets this year.  Clare, who was shocked by the news of her win, will be presented with her brand new VW Polo at the Volkswagen Head Office in Blakelands on April 13th.

The winning ticket was drawn on stage at the Milton Keynes Theatre by the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (right).
Darren Bennett who plays Caractacus Potts in the show said, “As the owner of the world’s most fantasmagorical car, Chitty I’d like to say congratulations to the lucky winner of this fantastic prize! Well done”

Acting as an independent witness, Christopher Rodriguez from Maka-Pinoy Club was present at the draw.  This was the first time their group had taken part in the car raffle and they sold over 1,900 tickets for their group making them this year’s top seller.

The  Community Car Raffle has raised a fantastic £32,506 this year.
At least 50% of these funds goes to the ticket selling groups and the remainder goes into the Foundation’s grant-making programme.  Most importantly, all of the money raised here in Milton Keynes by the car raffle stays in Milton Keynes.

The Milton Keynes Community Foundation extends grateful thanks to: Volkswagen Group UK Limited for donating the car, thecentre:mk for donating the prime location for the car and to MK Theatre for hosting the ticket draw.
